The tools in Rune Factory: Frontier are primarily used for farming, though some can be used to attack with as well. However, they are not as effective as actual weapons.
When using upgraded tools, you can charge them to increase their effectiveness at the cost of more RP.
Hoe[]
A hoe is one of the main tools used in the game. It is needed to till soil, and plants cannot be grown until a seed is sown in tilled soil. It can also be used as a weapon. The cheap hoe is obtained from Mist before starting the game.

Waterpot[]
A waterpot is essential to plant growth. It is needed to water plants, but only when it has water in it. The cheap waterpot is also obtained from Mist before starting the game.

Hammer[]
The hammer is used for mining and clearing rocks. It can also be used as a weapon. The cheap hammer is obtained when first meeting Melody on Whale Island.

Axe[]
The axe is used to break branches and stumps, yielding lumber. It can also be used as a weapon. The quantity of lumber collected can be checked using the Lumber Bin on the far right of the farm. Lumber is used in house upgrades, which can be purchased from Kross. The cheap axe is obtained by talking to Stella.

Sickle[]
The sickle is used to cut crops, weeds or harvest fodder. The cheap sickle is obtained from Erik after he has a bit of friendship points.

Pet Glove[]
The pet glove is essential for taming monsters. Once tamed, monsters can be brushed once a day to raise friendship. It is obtained by talking to Kross after going to Whale Island.
Harvester[]
The harvester is essential for collecting and transporting Runeys throughout Trampoli, but also for collecting produce from monsters. Collected Runeys can be used to speed up crop growth or used in ordering Rune Wonders from Candy. It is obtained from Candy after her explanation on Runes.
