Spring Island, one of the three farming islands.
Unlike the previous Rune Factory games, Tides of Destiny farming is not done by buying and planting seeds. Farming in Tides of Destiny is done by the monsters you've tamed. There are four islands that the monster will work, three are farming islands (Spring, Summer and Fall) and the fourth is for mining. Each island is named after a season.
How to get an Island[]
In order to find one of these four islands a villager will post a request about finding the island. After speaking with the villager the island will be marked on your ocean map. After reaching the island and raising it, you will notice that the island stone. In order to bring the island back to life, you will need to release the rune spirits that you collect on other islands to bring the island back to life. Increasing the percent of rune spirits on the island will increase the island fertility. In order to make the island completely fertile and use all the planting points of the island you need to release enough spirits to bring the island to 100%.

Each island has it's own corresponding spirit that when released on the island will increase the percent level by 2%. You can release the other spirits on the island as well, but they will only count for 1%.

How to Farm[]
In order to farm you need one of the crop islands that been brought back to life, a spirit wand and tamed monsters.
Planting points.
In order to plant crops, you will need to take your character to the island with their spirit wand equipped. When the wand is equipped the planting points are highlighted. If the wand is used correctly over planting points, then a sprout will appear. These sprouts will be turned into crops by your monsters. Planting points with no sprouts on them have a chance of producing weeds, magic grass, bamboo shouts, mushrooms, medicine herbs and weeds at random.
After you tame a crop category creature with your brush, and have monster cookies, you can place them on the island. From there they will plant crops based on their friendship level. As some monsters have up to four different types of crops they can produce you will not know which one they will turn the sprouts into. Higher friendship with your monsters will help them produce their different crops more often, as well as having the island at 100%. 100% will have more planting areas. Crops don't take long to grow, and if your monsters have high friendship or all crop the same crop, then it can take up to a day from the crop to be ready to harvest. You also don't have to keep a crop monster on the island once the sprout has been turn into a crop, as the other monsters will take care of the crop, but the crop will grow slower.
After taming a producing creature with your brush, and having a enough Monster Cookies in stock, you can send them to an island where they will plant crops based on their friendship level. Unfortunately, It is not possible to tell them which crop to plant, so if a creature has four crop abilities, and their friendship is high enough to plant all four, one of the four types will be randomly grown. Thankfully, crops do not take long to grow, and will often be finished in a day or two, which can be sped up further by having more monsters working that produce the same crop. Once the crop or ore has started growing, the producing monster does not need to remain on that island as the others will care for it, although at a slower rate.
Each island will grow any crop or flower once your monster friendship is high, but each island has crops that are better suited to be grown on it. So monsters that produce summer crops would do better on summer island. Since many of the monster are able to grow crops from more than one season, it's not easy to put them on an island base on their crop type.
There are also other types of monsters that can be used on the island. Each of these three island have tree planting points, where if there is a tree monster put onto the island. The trees can be turned into oak or maple trees. These trees once fully grown sometimes might have a rune crystal glowing on the ground next to it.
There are also harvesting monsters, which can be put on the island. They will harvest the crops and wild items that have grown on the island, and put them in the storage hole right next to the door on the tree. The harvesting monster can not harvest the trees. You will have to do that with an axe.

Spring Island[]
This is the first of the farming islands you will get in the game. The request will be posted by Maerwen. You will get this request after you find the sea chart on Verde Island. Once you accept the request travel to the marked area on your map, raise the island and release the spirit to bring it back to life. Then report back to the request giver to get your reward.

Winter Island []
The next island you will be able to get is winter island. This island is the Mining island. This request will be posted by Electra. You will get this request after crossing the ocean stream. Once you accept the request travel to the marked area on your map, raise the island and release the spirit to bring it back to life. Then report back to the request giver to get your reward.

Summer Island[]
The next island to get will be the summer island. This is the second farming island. The request will be posted by Sierra. You will get this request after Ymir red core upgrade, you will get the red core after defeating the boss of the Fire Spirit Shrine. Once you accept the request travel to the marked area on your map, raise the island and release the spirit to bring it back to life. Then report back to the request giver to get your reward.
