To grow crops in Rune Factory: Frontier, you need to buy seeds from Danny's Groceries, Erik's Farm or Rosetta's general store, Materia. The ground must first be tilled using a Hoe in order for seeds to be planted, and seeds are planted in a 3x3 grid. Crops must be watered once a day using a Waterpot, unless it is raining.

Crops can only be grown in their respective seasons, and no crops will grow in winter. This means that crops can be grown in dungeons with the corresponding season, regardless of the current season.

Crop Mechanics[]

Crop Level[]

Seed Maker

Crops initially start at Level 1. Crop level can be raised by adding Greenifier to the tilled soil (note that Greenifier only works for one harvest, and must be applied again after). Higher level crops sell for higher prices and make higher level food.

Higher level seeds can be obtained by placing the upgraded crop into the Seed Maker, which can be purchased from Lute on holidays.

Runeys[]

The number of Runeys present in an area affects the growth rate of crops. Having a good balance of the 4 types will ensure a faster growth rate, whilst an unbalance can result in your crops withering. You can collect and transfer Runeys between areas using a Harvester. The distribution of Runeys throughout Trampoli can be checked using the Distribution Map on the 2nd floor of the Clock Tower.
